Kadavul Vazhthu ( Respect to God )

    

Before we start, I want to emphasize on the fact that, the below mentioned god almighty is not specific.

God can be from Islam, Christianity, or Hinduism. Depends on your beliefs.

Thirukkural in English - As i know it

Introduction 

                This Script "Thirukkural" was written by Thiru Valluvar. A renowned poet in Tamil history. People searching for Thirukkural might already have a little knowledge of what it all about. 

For those of you who does not know about the significance and content of this introduction to the world of Thirukkural will be quite mind-blowing. 

The Thirukkural is Tamil Classic containing 1330 short poem(couplets), each poem consists of seven words. All these 1330 poem are teachings given by Valluvar on literally every aspects of life. 

And these 1330 poem are categorized in 3 Chapters, Namely: -  

            • Arathupaal 

            • Porutpaal and 

            • Kaamathupaal 

 And these Chapters are further divided into different Parts.

Arathupaal consists of, 

            1. Payiram - Introduction of oneself before others. 

            2. Illaraviyal - Science of domestic life. 

            3. Thuraviyal - Science of simple living and ethical practice 

            4. Uzhiyal - Science of being a better man/woman. 

Porutpaal consists of, 

            5. Arasiyal - Science of being a good king. 

            6. Amaichiyal - Science of being a good support for the ruler or king. 

            7. Araniyal - The necessities of the state. 

            8. Suzhiyal - The basics of wealth. 

            9. Padai-iyal - Virtues of a soldier. 

            10. Natpiyal - Science of being a good friend. 

            11. Kudi-iyal -Virtues on family roots. 

Kaamathupaal consists of, 

            12. Kalaviyal - Science of love making. 

            13. Karpiyal - Science of a happy family. 

This simple Tamil poem cover every aspect of life for a better living. Some of the things said in this poem might have been necessary in those early ages, but time has changed and hence our understanding about these “Kural” should also change. (Thirukkural – Kural) 

But I guess the reader would find more of the “Kural” relating to their life. On the successive posts I will be posting this wonderful Tamil poem with their translation in English, on my understanding on reading and hearing it.
